One correction, you normally get 35 weeks for mat leave EI, the proposal is that the total goes up to 40 weeks if the second spouse uses at least 5 weeks of it. Also note that recently they allowed for extended leave if a reduction to payout was received. In extended leave scenarios, they can get an additional 8 weeks.
