Coming up on Thursday at 3:30 AT 2:30 ET, 1:30 CT, 12:30 MT, 11:30 PT: VTN interview with Jamie Golombek of the Financial Post.
If you are interested in participating in a series of weekly Canadian Tax-focused conversations (as either a speaker or listener), consider downloading the “Clubhouse: Drop-in audio chat” App. It is currently only available on IOS systems (Apple products), but an Android version is in development. Members of Video Tax News and the Canadian Tax community will host sessions in the “Canadian Tax” club on a weekly basis. There is no cost.
Examples of recent sessions include:
Panel discussion with tax specialists discussing interesting items that have popped up for them in the week
Interview with VTN and Tim Cestnick of the Globe and Mail about the upcoming budget
Accounting Firm Talk 101: strategies and best practices
What is Clubhouse?
Clubhouse is currently in the beta-test phase. Think of it as a huge conference centre hosting 1,000’s (covering all sorts of topics beyond tax) of real-time interactive podcasts. Once you are on the platform, you can pop into any room you want. You can listen or raise your hand to be invited to speak, make a comment, or pose a question. You can also start your own rooms.
Once you log on, you will be presented with a series of rooms that are currently in session. This page is called the “hallway”. In order for the App to know which types of sessions to populate your hallway with, make sure to join clubs of interest, select your interests, and follow people (friends and colleagues) that have similar interests as you.
Unfortunately, since it is still in the test stage, access is by invite only from current members. We suggest simply posting on social media that you are looking for an invite…and likely one of your contacts will be able to connect. Alternatively, make sure to follow Joseph Devaney on LinkedIn where he will make announcements as additional invites become available to him to share.
If you don’t have a contact that can send one, make sure to check out the comments in this LinkedIn post from Joseph Devaney in which some fellow accountants have offered to share their invites.
